ATA Board of Directors

From Gary

I have been working for ATA in many capacities for several years starting as a member, committee member and chair, member of the board of directors, vice-chair of the board, chief executive officer and now chair of the board. When I first started, there was some glimmer of hope that a cure would be found. Within the last three years the scientists have been saying a cure is well within reach. I feel fortunate to be living in this day and age when we have so many fine scientists working diligently everyday to find that elusive cure.

Tinnitus has plagued humans for centuries. The ancient Egyptians prescribed pouring herbs, oils, and soil into the ear with reed stalk to cure tinnitus and the ancient Greeks held their breath to expel offending humors while honey, vinegar, cucumber and radish juice were poured into the ear. During my year as CEO of the ATA I heard many pleas from many individuals for anything that would help them with their severe debilitating tinnitus. There are products on the market today that are not far removed from these ancient remedies, and just about as useful.

What will it take to find the cure? It will take your continuing membership and your dollars to fund investigators as they travel along ATA’s Roadmap To A Cure. The staff and board members have also been pursuing every avenue to find additional funding to support tinnitus research.

We have a fine professional staff who are dedicated to helping you and all tinnitus sufferers. We have a board that is very supportive of our staff and our mission. It is now up to you to continue as a member and to contribute your dollars to help find a cure.

I look forward to the day when my tinnitus and hyperacusis will just be a memory.
